MOR Michael Rabo (St. Michael The Great)

{1126-1166-1199}

Ø  MOR MICHAEL RABO :

1. Is considered one of the Great Patriarchs of Antioch. A Scholar and famous Historian;
2. Was born in Melitine {Malatya in Mesapotamia} in the year 1126. His father is Rev. Fr. Elia Al Qandasi;
3. Became monk at Mor Barsawmo Monastery that is located near Melitine {Malatya};
4. Mastered Monk's Literature, Linguistics, Declension, History, Theology and all sorts of Literature;
5. Was known of his great and unique virtues;
6. Was ordained Priest and appointed as the head of Mor Barsawmo Monastery;
7. Was installed Patriarch of Antioch through the power of a decision by the Holy Synod;
8. Ordained Patriarch on 18^th October 1166;
9. Reigned the Holy See of Antioch for a period of thirty three years;
10. Departed this earthy life to the heavenly chambers on 7^th November 1199;
11. Was known to be handsome and good-looking person with an impressive look. This was accompanied with a unique chanting voice and good luck;
12. Left behind several of his books, and the most famous of those books is his book "THE RELIGIOUS AND GENERAL CIVIL HISTORY FROM THE CREATION UPTO THE YEAR 1193". This was wrote in Syriac and comes in several volumes.
